Buy Land Plant Trees

At the core of Chimney Sheep is our Community Interest Company, Buy Land Plant Trees (BLPT). For every purchase you make with us, 20% of the profit facilitates the planting of trees on agriculturally poor land in Cumbria.

We set up BLPT in 2019 as a ‘boots on the ground’ tree planting initiative. The company is run by us and the tree planting is done by us. We do it to help you and us to reduce our impact on the planet. The trees we plant reduce CO2 output as well as contribute to the reduction of flooding and the creation of habitats for wildlife.

BLPT isn’t a tick box exercise nor a distant and detached carbon offset company. In fact, this is as much part of our business as the products we sell and is an integral part of our ethos. We are big believers in the phrase ‘think globally, act locally’ and want to make a genuine difference

As promised on the label

This wool insulation is very useful for filling odd gaps as it can be cut into different pieces and squashed into small spaces. The other great thing is it is a natural product and doesn't damage the environment.

Great stuff

What not to like. Really useful and environmentally friendly. Good for sealing awkward shaped chimneys and other gaps in my older house. Comes in useful size pieces but easily made smaller if required. Friendly to use too.

Hole in the wall

We have a house built in the 1950s when air vents to an external wall were part of normal building practice. I wanted to restrict the direct inflow of cold air whilst still allowing some air through. I wondered if wool was the answer and turned to Chimney Sheep.
The solution was 'a useful bit of insulation' stuffed into the wall where the vent had been and covered by a hit-and-miss vent.
So far, so good! (The real test is longer-term performance.)

Draft free zone!

I have three very old Victorian chimneys that are no longer in use but are very drafty. I came across chimney sheep and read the reviews and thought ‘what have I got to lose?’. I got the smallest box and it did all 3 chimneys, it goes a very long way if you pull it apart. I used it more as a lining around my flue rather than stuffing the whole chimney area. It’s been a god send. Highly recommend!

*A really useful bit of insulation!

I've used this insulation to wedge in between the wall and the floor to stop any draughts, while we have our skirting boards off. I've put some in gaps near our windows and anywhere else I could find gaps and it does a great job. It gives extra peace of mind knowing that the material is natural and breathable.

I've also used it in a hessian coffee sack to put up the chimney, because I was struggling to measure for a chimney sheep draught excluder. A box went quite far for me, I found if you fluff it out you get even more volume out of it.
