Our range of project & craft supplies are natural, eco friendly and can be used for all sorts of sustainable creative projects.
The main part of the range is our 100% British wool for projects and crafts which is perfect for all sorts of creative projects and uses. From wool wadding for clothing and quilts to lofty wool stuffing for filling toys and cushions to dense wool batting for winter coats, our craft wool is 100% natural and functional. Lightweight, malleable, insulating, moisture-wicking, odour resistant and hypoallergenic, wool is a fantastic natural material that can be used in a variety of different ways across all seasons. You can read more about the wonders of wool here. Our range of craft wool can be used in quilts, garments, upholstery, toy making, needle felting and general crafts (to name a few). But really, the sky is the limit with this wool wadding, filling and stuffing so we encourage you to use your imagination and get creative!
As well as 100% wool wadding and filling, we also have a selection of wool mixes within our range of wool for projects. We have wadding made of a wool and PLA mix in various densities. PLA is a corn-based fibre called polylactic acid (PLA) that is sustainable and biodegradable. The PLA connects to the wool fibres to create a loftier, more structured material that holds its shape and traps air for extra insulating properties. This makes it perfect for thicker winter quilts, sleeping bags, mattress toppers, cushions and heavier winter coats. PLA is a natural alternative to the polyester fibres found in many other lofty wool wadding and insulation and therefore an eco-friendlier alternative to the plastic-infused versions.
The range also has a unique wool and ethical down mix wadding. Delicate yet warm, it can be used as filling for down coats and sleeping bags that can be easily packed down but are still warm and insulating.
Unlike most other suppliers, our wool and wool mixes contain 100% natural fibres. Our wool comes exclusively from UK farmers, and the wadding is made in Yorkshire rather than being imported from as far away as the USA and Australia. Unlike some other quilting waddings, our range has not undergone any artificial processing such as chlorination, acid stripping and plastic coating which is often used in the production of ‘superwash’ and machine washable wool.
