A Yarn with a Story
Ah, now this is the kind of yarn we get excited about. Our recycled T-Shirt Yarn is a proper feel-good material - lovely to work with, full of charm and character, and doing its bit to keep perfectly good textile waste out of landfill. It's made entirely from factory offcuts and surplus fabric - bits that would otherwise be binned, but instead have been rescued, re-spun and turned into something rather marvellous.
The result is a satisfyingly chunky yarn that's soft, stretchy, and full of personality. It's the ideal stuff for knitting, crocheting, weaving or crafting projects that call for a bit of sturdiness and texture - think bags, baskets, rugs, wall hangings, plant pot covers, even dog beds if you're feeling adventurous. It's strong and durable, with just the right amount of give, and because it's made from actual T-shirt fabric, it has a lovely softness to it too.
Knots, Joins & Eco-Friendly Charm
Now, because this yarn is made from recycled offcuts, you might occasionally come across a knot or join where the fabric's been connected. That's completely normal and just part of its eco-friendly charm. It's all part of the story - each reel has lived a little before it gets to you, which we think makes it all the more special.
One thing to bear in mind is that the colours vary depending on what fabric's available at the time - so if you see a colour you love, don't hang about! We strongly recommend buying enough to finish your project in one go, as we can't guarantee we'll be able to get the exact same shade or texture again.
Cut from the Same Cloth
Jolly Good Yarn is now part of the Chimney Sheep flock, and it all just makes sense. We've always been about making practical things properly - using natural, sustainable materials to create useful stuff with minimal impact on the planet. So bringing in a range of recycled cotton yarns and fibres for creative, hands-on making felt like a natural next step. Just like our wool-based products, this yarn is all about working with what we've already got - reclaiming, repurposing, and turning it into something brilliant. It's the same ethos that runs through everything we do: thoughtful materials, low-impact living, and a big dollop of good old-fashioned creativity. Whether you're plugging a chimney, feeding your soil, or knotting up a plant hanger, it's all part of the same mission to live a bit more simply and make things that matter.
