Hanging your laundry outside can be perceived as a bit of a risk in our climate. It can be frustrating to have the laundry nearly dry, when a sudden cloud-burst drenches it. Or to know it’s a lovely sunny breezy day, but you’re going to be out all day so you don’t know whether it will be safe to leave the laundry all day or not. Well, the Laundry Mac™ is designed to take the risk out of leaving your laundry outdoors!
A typical load of laundry contains around 2 litres of water. If this evaporates into your home, it can cause issues with condensation, damp, and mould. Using a tumble dryer is expensive in electricity consumption. So the solution is to get it outside if you can. Laundry always smells fresher and cleaner after a flap outdoors as well.
The Laundry Mac™ is designed to be as simple as possible. Rotary dryers vary considerably in size; some have four arms and some have three. The Laundry Mac™ comprises a large circle of quality waterproof fabric, with bungies to attach it to the rotary dryer arms. There are twelve holes around the perimeter, so you can set it up with the right number of bungies. The fabric is weighted around the edge so it hangs down around the washing. It comes with a telescopic prop to support it in the centre, so the rain doesn’t puddle in the middle. If you already have a laundry prop then you can manage without the telescopic prop so you can buy just the Mac if you want to.
When I introduced it there was a degree of scepticism. What if it’s windy? It’s the same as using an umbrella – it protects you from showers. If it’s gale force winds then an umbrella wouldn’t work, so the same goes for the Laundry Mac. Mebbe I should have called it a Laundry Brolly. Oh well, too late now. Anyway, once they have given it a bit of a ponder, the sceptics realise how a Laundry Mac™ de-risks hanging laundry outside, and these are rapidly becoming one of our most popular products. we've even had a large retailer approach us about selling it, but it costs us a lot to make so we can't offer it at a trade price. The Laundry Mac™ is exclusive to Chimney Sheep Ltd!
Other benefits include protecting the laundry from bird poo, and preventing bleaching from the sun (living in Cumbria, I think laundry bleached by the sun would be a nice problem to have). Another benefit is an element of privacy. I mean, however well you get on with your neighbours, you don’t really want them looking at your underwear, do you? It also means you don’t have to manage your day around when you put the washing on / when you need to hang it out. You can put it out the evening before if you want to! And don’t worry about being judged by those neighbours. They’ll be buying one themselves before long.
