What is a cloth nappy?
A cloth nappy is a reusable nappy made from absorbent fabrics that soak up moisture and can be washed and worn multiple times, as opposed to single-use disposable nappies.
These cloth nappy pads are a washable alternative to our compostable nappy pads, designed to go inside Eenee’s hybrid nappy pants as nappy liners or inserts, sometimes referred to as ‘nappy boosters’. Take a look at our size chart to ensure you have the correct sized pant for your baby.
When used alongside reusable nappy pants, cloth nappies like these are a great way to reduce waste and save money on expensive disposables.
How do I use a cloth eco nappy pad?
Eenee cloth eco nappy inserts are made to be used with our washable nappy pants. It's an easy, eco-friendly system once you get the routine down!
This means you can toss these cloth nappy liners in the washing machine when soiled (or a nappy bag when out and about) and replace with a fresh one when needed. Why not use some eco-friendly laundry detergent?
But you don’t have to replace the outer nappy pants every time - they can be reused multiple times before washing, and a quick wipe down will do the job for little messes in between washes. If you've got any further questions about how these nappies work, take a look at our FAQs.
Why should I choose a microfibre nappy booster?
We love microfibre because it’s super absorbent and capable of absorbing SEVEN times its weight in water!
In fact, the new and improved design of this washable nappy insert is one of the most absorbent pads on the market.
It effectively wicks away moisture from the body and dries really fast, making it a fantastic choice for babies that pee frequently as a microfibre nappy pad will simply absorb the moisture time and time again until it’s full.
Unlike other microfibre nappy pads, this one is suitable for heavy wetters as well. You shouldn’t have to worry about compression leaks with Eenee’s super absorbent microfibre nappy booster as three layers of thick microfibre will be more than enough to hold any amount of pee your baby can produce. Perfect for overnights or long naps, you can rest assured that there’ll be no leaks with this cloth nappy booster!
The ultra fine silk-like fibres are also super soft, perfect for delicate baby skin that’s prone to irritation. With that in mind though, we recommend using the PlanetCare Microfibre Filter when washing to avoid releasing any of these fibres into the water.
But if that’s not enough to impress you, here’s some other amazing benefits of choosing a microfibre nappy pad over a regular cotton cloth nappy…
- Strong and durable
- Shrink-resistant
- Hypoallergenic
- Can withstand hundreds of washes without wearing out
- Production process doesn’t require any chemicals
How often should I change my baby's cloth nappy?
We’d recommend checking your baby's nappy frequently, approximately every 2-3 hours.
Then, change the cloth nappy whenever it feels full and heavy, or is wet to the touch. Always change your baby’s nappy as soon as possible if they have pooped to ensure their bum is kept nice and clean to avoid irritation. This particular cloth nappy pad is very absorbent so you may find that you have to change it a little less often, making it that little bit more convenient.
Why should I choose a cloth nappy instead of disposables?
Cloth nappies are not only great for the planet but also better for your wallet and your little one’s comfort. Let’s take a look at some of the top reasons we choose to opt for sustainable cloth nappies over disposables…
First of all, cloth nappies are significantly more eco-friendly. Disposable diapers contribute to the global waste crisis because they stick around in landfills for centuries (up to 500 years!) and release harmful chemicals during their production and decomposition.
8 million nappies are binned every day - that’s about 3 BILLION a year which accounts for 400,000 tonnes of annual waste… And that’s just in the UK alone!
On the other hand, cloth nappies are completely plastic-free and reusable. They can simply be washed over and over again to last years, reducing the overall waste generated in its lifetime.
Now, let’s talk about your budget. Cloth nappies might seem pricier at first, but they're a better long-term investment. You can use them for multiple children and they actually work out less expensive over time compared to the constant purchase of disposables. This saves you money (and time travelling to the shops), making cloth nappies more cost-effective in the long run.
Comfort is important too! Cloth nappies like these ones are made from natural materials, reducing the likelihood of skin irritation or allergies in babies. This means a happier baby and more comfortable experience for your little one.
Last but not least, using cloth eco nappies creates a greater sense of connection and responsibility for our planet. It helps you become more aware of the waste you’re producing and encourages a more mindful and environmentally conscious lifestyle, which can inspire you to adopt other eco-friendly behaviours too.
