Raw wool is a cost effective way of using sheep wool to mulch the garden. It has excellent water retention properties, it supresses weeds and it biodgrades down to release valuable nutrients into the soil.

Each large bag contains 10kg of greasy wool - that's a lot of wool!

Made wonderful woolly skirts for my pot plants! Works a treat

I found Chimneysheep on a random rabbit hole search and saw the fleece. It instantly reminded me of my grandad putting fleece on the soil of their smallholding. So I ordered a small amount to test. It’s Brilliant! It’s cut down my watering by half!! Used it on my veggies in pots and containers and it keeps the water in the soil so well. And a big bonus is that it deters snails or slugs too! Some small birds took a few bits for nests which was a joy to watch. I’ve now bought a larger amount. Great material and great company. Can’t rate them highly enough

Amazing value

So many uses about the garden, I have used it as a thick mulch on my many pots, trying to help in this dry weather, lined hanging baskets, even used smallish amounts in the bottom of pots to deter pesky slugs and critters nesting in the bottom. The quantity you get is amazing value and mine was fairly clean.

Fabulous fleece

Much more than I expected. I tried the raw wool around some brassicas that were struggling in the heat and it’s amazing. It keeps the soil lovely and moist and everything is growing really well and no slug damage. I bought 10kg and it will do most of my plot, a little goes a long way. Highly recommended.

Overwhelmed by how big the whole sheep's worth of wool is!

Wonderful - already deploying this as a mulch around my flowerbeds to try to reduce water loss in this drought

DOES THE JOB

I have had no slug damage to crops that have the raw wool used as a mulch around them, although my early potatoes which didn't get the mulch, were badly affected by the big orange/brown slugs. I have put the raw wool around 3 rows of squash plants and had no damage in 1month.
