Here's a thought. You diligently sort your recycling every week. The plastic goes in the right bin. Off it goes. And then... what? If nobody actually buys products made from recycled plastic, the loop never closes. The plastic gets shipped abroad, buried, or burned. All that sorting, for nothing.
These plant pots are our small contribution to making the loop actually close.
They're made from 100% recycled plastic — the kind of plastic that's already had a life as something else and deserves another go. They come in a pack of 2, in sizes from 2 litres right up to 20 litres, so whether you're potting on a tiny seedling or giving a tomato plant some serious root room, there's a size that works.
Why recycled plastic for plant pots?
Plastic, used well, is actually a pretty good material for pots. It's lightweight, it doesn't dry out as fast as terracotta, and it lasts for years. The problem has always been what happens at the end of its life. These pots are made to be used for a long time — and when they eventually reach the end of the road, they can go back into the recycling stream again. That's the circular economy in action: materials staying in use, not ending up in landfill.
We've been banging on about closing the loop for a while now — read more about why we stock recycled products and what closing the loop actually means. It's one of the reasons we stock recycled plastic products at all — because unless there's demand for goods made from recycled materials, there's no incentive for manufacturers to use them, and no incentive for councils to actually recycle rather than incinerate. Buying recycled isn't just a nice thing to do. It's what makes the whole system work.
