Wool is an amazing material. Not only can it be used for all kinds, our furry friends love it. Over the years we've heard tonnes of stories of how pups love lying on our sheep wool felt or Chimney Sheep chimney draught excluders as their own, and decided to sit, lie or even make a bed out of them. So, we had a think, and decided to create something they could lie on wherever they are and wherever they get to. A packable, wool rollup travel dog bed. But, we didn't want to produce just any old travel bed. We wanted to produce something both pawesome and sustainable. Something that could help lower your pup's carbon pawprint - and we think we've done just that!
Handmade in our factory close to the Lake District, our natural wool travel dog beds are made of renewable organic, naturally dyed cotton filled with our lightweight yet comfortable locally sourced Herdwick wool felt. These pawsitvely fantastic travel dog beds are then finished off with high quality metal poppers to allow you to roll this mat up nice and compactly. There's not an ounce of plastic here!
Every single component of these high quality natural wool dog travel beds is natural, there's no plastic content and they're free from glues and solvents too. The manufacturing process has been curated with the environment in mind, they're completely hand made using methods that have minimal environmental impact. Plus the materials used are high quality and completely natural - just a water resistant, naturally dyed cotton cover and local Herdwick wool felt. So, you can be assured your rollup dog bed is not only sustainable, but quality too.
Each rollup travel dog bed measures 100cm x 73cm when unravelled. When rolled up it measures 20cm x 73cm. It weighs less than 1.5 Kg.
We've a range of colours available in our natural travel dog mats (black, grey, red, green, yellow, blue) to allow you to express your pups personality.
So, how will this wool travel mat help me reduce my dogs carbon pawprint?

How does my dog impact the environment?
Dogs are just the perfect companion. They'll go anywhere with you. There's got to be a reason why they're the UK's favourite pet right? Not only are they a wonderful companion, they bring hours of hilarity and fun to our lives as well as helping to combat loneliness too.
But, the average pup affects the environment in all kinds of ways. Not only do they naturally releases gasses such as methane and carbon dioxide ( in fact an average 15kg dog releases approximately 770 kg of carbon per year) they consume lots of environmentally damaging meat products, as well as requiring apparel and kit that is often made of plastic. This means dogs directly contribute to environmental issues such as the greenhouse effect, the increase in carbon dioxide as well as ocean plastic pollution and non-recycled plastic ending up on landfill.
But, there are things we can do to help reduce the carbon paw print of our best adventure companions. It's all about making small changes and like-for-like swaps. Things you'll barely notice, but have direct pawsitive impacts on the environment. Things like switching from synthetic collars and leads to natural collars and leads. Why not take a look through our range of natural pet products, we've got some wonderful like-for-like swaps available. Tiny changes amount to big results, so we want to encourage you to start now and think about the environment while you care for your dog and keep their carbon pawprint low!

At the core of Chimney Sheep is our Community Interest Company, Buy Land Plant Trees (BLPT). For every purchase you make with us, 20% of the profit facilitates the planting of trees on agriculturally poor land in Cumbria.
We set up BLPT in 2019 as a ‘boots on the ground’ tree planting initiative. The company is run by us and the tree planting is done by us. We do it to help you and us to reduce our impact on the planet. The trees we plant reduce CO2 output as well as contribute to the reduction of flooding and the creation of habitats for wildlife.
BLPT isn’t a tick box exercise nor a distant and detached carbon offset company. In fact, this is as much part of our business as the products we sell and is an integral part of our ethos. We are big believers in the phrase ‘think globally, act locally’ and want to make a genuine difference
