Tell me more about this Organic Seaweed Fertiliser
This seaweed is one of the richest available, containing a very wide range of elements concentrated from the sea. It contains more than 60 natural organic elements, amino acids, enzymes, trace elements and many other organic substances which collectively have a catalytic effect on plant growth. By supplementing the plants own biochemistry and ensuring greater efficiency in the growth mechanisms of crops to which it is applied.
As the roots develop and strengthen, nutrients previously locked in the soil are released, thus negating deficiencies in trace elements and ensuring more effective use of fertilisers applied. Photosynthesis and the build-up carbohydrate is encouraged resulting in stronger cell structure and a plant better able to resist stress and disease.
Checks from natural means such as drought and adverse weather as well as the induced checks of herbicides and chemical treatments are all more successfully resisted by plants treated with Hebrides Liquid Seaweed.
Liquid seaweed comprises a water-soluble concentrate of seaweed, Ascophyllum nodosum, otherwise known as bladderwrack.
Hebrides Liquid Seaweed contains natural minerals, vitamins and all the essential amino acids and growth promoting substances as well as high levels of solubilised Alginates.
Generations of Hebridean Islanders knew that seaweed was good for their plants. In recent times, analysis of the seaweed extract has identified a range of plant-growth stimulants, vitamins, chelating agents, trace minerals, enzymes, and amino acids, all of which influence the growth of plants in different ways. Feeding plants with liquid seaweed fertiliser has multiple benefits for a wide range of plants:
- Garden plants produce more flowers
- Fruit trees and bushes suffer less from softening and rotting
- Increased yields have been found in vegetable crops
- Plants demonstrate better frost tolerance
- Seeds germinate better
- Plants’ ability to absorb trace elements is improvedLawns are more lush and healthier-looking
Primarily sold to professional gardeners and greenskeepers, we buy this pure liquid seaweed in bulk and decant it into mail-order sized 5 litre containers. And, the containers are made of recycled plastic right here in Cumbria!
This is a concentrated fertiliser – it is diluted at a rate of 1:30

You can water this onto your plants regularly over the growing season. You can even put it into ollas, if you have them buried in the garden. This will help to deliver the fertiliser directly to the roots, and avoid evaporation of the precious liquid.
