When the distance from the opening of your fireplace to the chimney throat is greater than 30cm, you'll need a Chimney Sheep® extension rod to help you perfectly place your woollen draught stopper so that it performs at peak efficiency. Buy Land Plant Trees

At the core of Chimney Sheep is our Community Interest Company, Buy Land Plant Trees (BLPT). For every purchase you make with us, 20% of the profit facilitates the planting of trees on agriculturally poor land in Cumbria.

We set up BLPT in 2019 as a ‘boots on the ground’ tree planting initiative. The company is run by us and the tree planting is done by us. We do it to help you and us to reduce our impact on the planet. The trees we plant reduce CO2 output as well as contribute to the reduction of flooding and the creation of habitats for wildlife.

BLPT isn’t a tick box exercise nor a distant and detached carbon offset company. In fact, this is as much part of our business as the products we sell and is an integral part of our ethos. We are big believers in the phrase ‘think globally, act locally’ and want to make a genuine difference

Has done the job of allowing us to push the chimney sheep further up the chimney and block the draft more successfully.

Flue Higher

After a stringent visual survey (me looking up the chimney), we decided that three extension rods would be enough. They were, but only just, and with the original handle, formed 2 ft of rod. Each rod has a clever "click" when tightened, to stop them accidentally coming unscrewed and leaving your sheep up the flue. At this length, the rod was very flexible, although it didn't break, despite some energetic shoving to get the sheep in place. So overall, everything worked, and is, working well. Well done, Chimneysheep but, could do with longer extension rods available please next time?

Does what it says it does.

I have a large chimney & was advised to order a larger chimney sheep than the size of the chimney. Having followed all the instructions it fits perfectly around the irregular brick’s & Mortar & is working really well. No more wind noise or cold air. A great product & I should have bought one years ago!!

tiny extension rods

I hadn't paid huge attention to just how tiny the rods are but for my fire place I needed about 4 feet of rods to get into the stable part of the chimney and these 6 inch rods were pretty useless to gain that length- wish I'd paid more attention to just how far up a chimney in an old house one needs to go to reach the areas they recommend you place your chimney sheep

Very good, it really works. Had to use a poker as well, but I have limited mobility. So all in all, very good!
