Made in the UK

Wanting to protect your plants against bad weather or pests? Then our garden fleece is just what you need!

The fleece is thick enough to create a barrier of protection against frost, wind and pests but lightweight enough to allow light penetration. Versatile in its uses, the fleece can either be pegged over whole beds or wrapped around individual plants.

Made of 100% sheep’s wool, the fleece is a much more sustainable option versus the traditional polypropylene fleece horticultural fleece.

The felt is 1.7m wide, 4mm thick and is priced per linear metre. For example, if you placed an order of five, you would receive a piece of wool felt measuring 5m x 1.7m.

Buy Land Plant Trees

At the core of Chimney Sheep is our Community Interest Company, Buy Land Plant Trees (BLPT). For every purchase you make with us, 20% of the profit facilitates the planting of trees on agriculturally poor land in Cumbria.

We set up BLPT in 2019 as a ‘boots on the ground’ tree planting initiative. The company is run by us and the tree planting is done by us. We do it to help you and us to reduce our impact on the planet. The trees we plant reduce CO2 output as well as contribute to the reduction of flooding and the creation of habitats for wildlife.

BLPT isn’t a tick box exercise nor a distant and detached carbon offset company. In fact, this is as much part of our business as the products we sell and is an integral part of our ethos. We are big believers in the phrase ‘think globally, act locally’ and want to make a genuine difference

So good!

It’s so warm, easy to use and perfect to protect my more delicate plants. Great price too

Brilliant insulation

Light, thick warm insulation for both my greenhouse and cold frames. Easy to cut to size and shape.
I’m looking forward to see how the tender plants fare this Winter with their “sheepy” coats.

Lovely and thick and looks robust.

Delighted by the speed of service. Great sheepy smell and pleased by how robust and thick the insulation is. Not yet used it as weather is still mild however I'm sure it will do the job better than traditional horticultural fleece. Thank you.

Soft, manageable and 'green'

The fleece is easy to work because it is so light and doesn't scatter tiny fibres everywhere. I made bags with ties at each end, on my sewing machine and it didn't feel bulky at all. It's good that farmers can use sheep's wool like this because I know they have a difficult time getting a fair price for a fleece.
I found the smell a bit pervasive especially after I stored the bags in polythene. However airing them outside in the fresh air for a couple of days has solved the problem.
When the frost comes it won't matter anyway and they will be easy to place over my potted plants.

We use this for our palm/banana trees in the winter, it works like a dream with a plastic cover over the top, and the birds take the bits of wool poking out the bottom for nests, so we all win. When it is at the end of its like it goes in the compost bin so no waste and the trees and birds are happy.
