Buy Land Plant Trees

At the core of Chimney Sheep is our Community Interest Company, Buy Land Plant Trees (BLPT). For every purchase you make with us, 20% of the profit facilitates the planting of trees on agriculturally poor land in Cumbria.

We set up BLPT in 2019 as a ‘boots on the ground’ tree planting initiative. The company is run by us and the tree planting is done by us. We do it to help you and us to reduce our impact on the planet. The trees we plant reduce CO2 output as well as contribute to the reduction of flooding and the creation of habitats for wildlife.

BLPT isn’t a tick box exercise nor a distant and detached carbon offset company. In fact, this is as much part of our business as the products we sell and is an integral part of our ethos. We are big believers in the phrase ‘think globally, act locally’ and want to make a genuine difference

Received the sleeping bag really fast. The purchasing process was easy. The product quality is relatively good considering that it is made in… China.
The design is nice and the materials are seems to be ok.
I’m expecting like any other Chinese made products to fail due to the manufacturing errors not because the materials.
To be honest I’ve brought it just because I believed that it is German made, unfortunately the sellers in Britain don’t have the common sense to provide you with the manufacturing country like other places in Europe or Americas so I felt that I was lied to in some extent…
Also the sleeping bag is it not 100% wool filled but it’s mixed with synthetic fibre.
That it seemed to be because the value or because they wanted to keep the weight down?
To be absolutely honest the price wasn’t an issue as people that are drifting towards wool in outdoor equipment are not concerned about the price but the quality of the product.
The size of the sleeping bag is also kind of an issue as it is kind of on the small side…
For a dude that is 6’2”- 14 st. is kind of too narrow and a bit short. Considering the situation that you may have to get into it with extra clothes you may have to leave it open, otherwise you will just simply not be able to close it.
For the insulation point of view at the moment in the UK it’s summer so I’m unable to provide a real life situation scenario until the weather changes so I may have to come back with another review in several months.
I’ve brought a sleeping bag liner, wool of course and that will theoretically add another 5-10 degrees to it so it can potentially work even in the winter if paired together with a bivy bag.
I love the design and the idea of combining wool with synthetic fibre but some characteristics must be kept in mind.
The value is overpriced considering the manufacturing country. If it was made in Europe I will be happy with it’s price also because I had in mind the intention to stimulate the internal economy of Europe in general but I was put off big day, sadly .
It appears that some of the processes involved in the manufacturing are coming also from the United Kingdom and that’s positive.
All in one, I’m giving 5***** to the seller as they have the best price for this particular model, 4**** for the manufacturer,
I will comeback with another review, if I’m not barred from the review board because my honest opinions, and I will let you know how it will perform in different environments.
Stay safe, Pablo G

Thank you for the detailed review Pablo! I contacted the owner of Grutzi and this is what he said: Hello Pablo,

Thank you for your honest review. Grüezi bag explains everything in detail on its website. The material for the wool sleeping bags comes from Europe, the wool from the Alps. However, the sewing quality in Europe for light fabrics is very poor. For the reason that a long lifespan is the most sustainable thing, the sewing was left to a specialist company in Asia (even if this is more expensive). The climate test also found that a lot of wool is not always a good thing. If there is too much wool in it. The wool draws moisture out of the sleeping bag too quickly, which leads to evaporative cooling. If there is too little wool in it, the temperature rises. That's why each model has exactly the amount of wool to achieve a balanced climate in the sleeping bag.
The sleeping bags are not just assembled, a lot of development has gone into them. Grüezi bag stands for the best sleeping climate

Viele Grüße
