Energy saving

The Laundry Mac™ is a deceptively simple but effective way of protecting your laundry from showers when it’s hanging on a rotary dryer (whirligig!). It is a large circle of waterproof, breathable fabric with weights around the edge, that fastens onto three-armed and four-armed rotary dryers. It is propped in the centre so that water runs off. It is literally like putting a waterproof coat over your laundry, protecting it from rain showers and enabling you to get your laundry dried outside whatever the weather.

Off to work for the day, and won't be there to take the laundry in when the forecast shower this afternoon passes through? No problem, leave the Laundry Mac™ to protect it!

Just hung the laundry out and it looks like rain? No problem, flip the Laundry Mac ™ over it!

No time to hang the laundry out in the morning, and it's 11 o'clock at night? No problem, put it out for the night with a Laundry Mac™ protecting it!

Love the birds in your garden but get fed up with them pooping on your nice clean washing? No problem, hang a Laundry Mac™ over it!

Lucky enough to live somewhere hot and sunny, where your laundry dries in minutes but gets bleached by the sun? No problem, put a Laundry Mac™ over it!

Buy Land Plant Trees

At the core of Chimney Sheep is our Community Interest Company, Buy Land Plant Trees (BLPT). For every purchase you make with us, 20% of the profit facilitates the planting of trees on agriculturally poor land in Cumbria.

We set up BLPT in 2019 as a ‘boots on the ground’ tree planting initiative. The company is run by us and the tree planting is done by us. We do it to help you and us to reduce our impact on the planet. The trees we plant reduce CO2 output as well as contribute to the reduction of flooding and the creation of habitats for wildlife.

BLPT isn’t a tick box exercise nor a distant and detached carbon offset company. In fact, this is as much part of our business as the products we sell and is an integral part of our ethos. We are big believers in the phrase ‘think globally, act locally’ and want to make a genuine difference

Fantastic cost-free solution for drying clothes in the winter

After getting rid of my dryer and investing in a dehumidifier and a heated airer to dry my laundry, I thought I would give this a go, so as to avoid having to live with wet laundry in the house through the winter. It is fantastic, I can continue to dry my clothes outdoors and, while they take a bit longer to dry, I can normally hang them up one day and pick them up the next, smelling fresh and wrinkle free. All for zero electricity. Really recommend.

Perhaps I’m too far south …

A excellent idea.
Measured twice like I was taught but must have been having a blonde moment as it is a bit too short & cannot attach bungee to one arm of the rotary dryer. (Post Offices closed down in all our surrounding villages & nearest town, so returning it to exchange for the larger size would have been a huge faff.)
Couldn’t attach extendable pole to dryer pole either.
I resorted to baler twine which solved both problems in a Heath Robinson way.
Was feeling pretty smug as I watched numerous rain showers occur during the day & when I went out to check if the laundry was dry.

Unfortunately a considerable amount of condensation had built up on the underside of the Mac & it all fell onto the dry laundry as I removed the Mac.
Not quite sure why this happened as it was in a totally open area?
Can only assume the 17°+/- warm air temperature was the cause & the Mac prevented evaporation. Wish I knew the answer/solution as the Mac is now on a shelf in the shed doing nothing.

I bought wrong size. Contacted ChimneySheep and they told me to send back the Mac, keeping the extending pole and buy the larger sized mac and they give me a refund of the difference. I did, they did, everyone's happy!!! And the product? Brilliant! Slightly a little big for my line and strong winds lift the weighted flaps so that I get buckets of water too if it's raining as the Mac falls between the lines! But, there are eyelets all around the edge of the Mac soo could bungee it onto the supporting pole of the line. I'm not worried. Just a little tweak for a great product. I don't have anywhere for a tumble dryer. Next best thing!

Regular Laundry Mac & Pole

Exactly as described on the website. Have only used it in pretty rubbish drying conditions so far but is really useful for just being able to leave the washing out and forget about it. Materials all seem like a decent quality and the cover dries out quickly for storage when it’s not in use . So far so good - would recommend buying one .
