Bringing you practical, natural, stylish minimalism with these felted coasters - the Lakeland Collection delivers high quality sustainable homewares, made using only the finest natural materials.
Evocative of the Lake District's own Herdwick sheep, these felted coasters feature delightful hues of grey - the perfect luxe neutral to compliment anyone's favourite mug!
The Lakeland Collection coasters are made from ethically sourced sheep wool, which has been carefully heated and pressed into sumptuous, dense thick felt. One of our team then crafts this felt into our luxury felted coasters.
There are no extras, they're entirely plastic free, and free from chemicals, solvents glues and dyes - simply sheep wool coasters. These mats provide a sustainable alternative to slate coasters.
Why not take a peek at our matching wool felted tablemats and put together a matching collection, or gift a little piece of the Lake District, and send them to your favourite person?
Why do I need some Lakeland Collection luxury wool felted coasters?
Made of ethically sourced, sustainable sheep wool these coasters bring a little bit of natural, minimalist luxury. Not only this, they take advantage of some of the many fantastic properties of sheep wool.
Naturally insulating, wool coasters are the perfect barrier against heat-related damage. They'll help prevent scorch marks, colour bleaching and other heat-related damage to tables and countertops by absorbing some of that heat from your coffee mug, protecting the surface beneath.
Densely felted, these coasters are incredibly cushioning. Wool is naturally forgiving and springy - when it's paired with our innovative heating and felting process, it becomes an incredibly cushy, dense felt. It's cleverly designed to absorb impacts, help prevent damage, chips and cracks to mugs and teacups, as well as taking some impact away from the surface beneath. Perfect if you're prone to accidentally dropping your mug onto the side table with a clunk!
No need to worry about fire either. Wool is naturally flame retardant; it doesn't catch light easily and simply smoulders - so you'll never have to worry about accidentally knocking a candle with your mug - your coaster won't catch alight!
They're crafted in Britain, using low energy, small batch production methods and only the highest quality, ethically sourced wool felt - to ensure the carbon footprint of these sustainable coasters is as low as possible. They're completely plastic, synthetic and solvent-free meaning these coasters won't contribute to the ever-growing issue of plastic pollution in the ocean at end of life. Plastic-based cutlery and kitchenware contribute to approximately 9% of the plastic pollution in the ocean. A terrifying thought. Not our coasters thankfully, when they finally reach the end of their long life, they can simply be repurposed as a mulch mat for your garden or composted!
Plus, they're just delightful! Crafted in view of the Lake District fells, why not keep a tiny piece of the Lakes in your home, a reminder of a recent holiday, a future dream adventure or just as a reminder of the beautiful National Heritage site?
Have you got any matching items to make a full luxury wool felted table set?
Absolutely, if you're after a full set of luxury placemats and coasters, why not take a peek at our Lakeland Collection Wool Placemats? They're made of the exact same exceptional quality, sustainable sheep wool felt, with beautiful hues of grey running throughout - the perfect complimentary pairing.
What's the best way to care for my luxury wool coasters?
Our minimalist, practical felted cup mats are wipeable and easy care. They are also hand washable in cold water and mild detergent, so if you happen to spill red wine or tea on them, don't worry you can simply wash them by hand, and lay them flat to dry. However, they've been tested by our own clumsy selves and being dark coloured they are also very practical - they don't show any stains!
The dense felted wool is tough, fray resistant and built for longevity, so your luxury felted coasters will last for years. We advise keeping hold of the box (after all, it is pretty!) and storing your coasters in a dry place, in the box to keep them pristine when they're not being used.

At the core of Chimney Sheep is our Community Interest Company, Buy Land Plant Trees (BLPT). For every purchase you make with us, 20% of the profit facilitates the planting of trees on agriculturally poor land in Cumbria.
We set up BLPT in 2019 as a ‘boots on the ground’ tree planting initiative. The company is run by us and the tree planting is done by us. We do it to help you and us to reduce our impact on the planet. The trees we plant reduce CO2 output as well as contribute to the reduction of flooding and the creation of habitats for wildlife.
BLPT isn’t a tick box exercise nor a distant and detached carbon offset company. In fact, this is as much part of our business as the products we sell and is an integral part of our ethos. We are big believers in the phrase ‘think globally, act locally’ and want to make a genuine difference
