After I started to suffer from sciatica and backaches, every morning when getting out of my bed, I decided to chuck my mattress and bed, and replaced it with a Japanese tatami. Intuition told me that sleeping on a hard surface will do the trick. I then was looking for thick felt, to make a super thin “mattress”. I bought 4m of this wonderful felt and turned it into a 2cm thick felt mattress by doubling it and sewing a cotton cover. The combination of the tatami and the natural sheep felt is magical. Sleeping on natural, breathable materials is life changing. After a couple of weeks getting used to it, all the back pains were gone. Every sleep is like a giant stretch out.
It has been a year now, all I can say is, felt is a wonderful material to sleep on….not just for cats and dogs
After years of thinking I should find out how to stop the draft coming down my chimney, I finally bought a wool draft excluder and it's brilliant. It is money well spent and I am delighted with it because it has made such a difference in the temperature in the room. I'm annoyed with myself that I never bought one sooner.
Effective in reducing the draft from the chimney, markedly improving the energy conservation within my sitting room. I wish I knew it's existence earlier.
great looking and easy to get on and off. More likely to use them in the winter. I particularly went for them because of the latex content which I believe is much more sustainable (degradable) than plastics.
My trainer inserts were falling apart. Thought I’d try these wool ones. They’re nice and thick and quite reasonably priced. I didn’t even need to trim them. All natural too!
We’ve always had a huge draft coming down our chimney when the fire wasn’t lit. This has completely stopped it. The only downside is thinking of somewhere to store it when we have a fire because it’s covered in soot - which stupidly didn’t occur to me.
Our 9-year old lab just loves this bed. It has some weight to it, which is great as it stays in place. Its cover appears to be quite sturdy -- our dog has been digging on it since we got it. And we wanted something made of natural materials with a bit of cushion so this bed is just perfect.
Just moved into an oldish property and noticed the noise and draught when it was windy outside. Looked at a lot of these type of products but they all seemed to be for larger, wider fireplaces. This was the only one that was the perfect size for us, and although we thought it initially pricey, once you get it and see the quality and how good it looks and how well it works then it was worth every penny. Seem like a really friendly company and would happily use them again.
I ordered this to block up a redundant chimney in a bedroom.
Delivery was very prompt and the instructions for insertion were clear. I’m looking forward to a less draughty room.
A large number of composts still contain peat. he use of peat in compost comes at huge environmental cost, from the destruction of habitats, to the release of huge amounts of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gasses. We think it’s time we took the leap to entirely peat-free compost – let us tell you why!
The environmental price tag of laundry is rather hefty. Washing machines, driers and heated towel rails guzzle electricity, while chemical laden detergents wreak havoc on aquatic environments. Our comprehensive guide to swaps and changes you can make to ensure your laundry routine is as environmentally friendly as possible!
